I did something fun today.
I finally realized that I will probably flush my current phone down the toilet sooner or later if I don’t get a new one (for those of you who don’t know, my phone refuses to show me my text messages more often than once or twice a week. This means that people who are in a hurry to get in touch with me, have to wait a couple of days for my answer. Lame.
Also, it’s pretty embarrassing when people text me asking if I want to have lunch with them, because it makes me seem like a stuck-up bitch when I don’t answer.
Therefore.. I bought a new phone. Today.
I ended up with an android phone, HTC Wildfire.
I haven’t got it in my hand yet, hopefully it’ll arrive before the weekend or I’ll go CRAZY (I’ve got no patience at all when it comes to this kind of things). I think it’ll be great, the only thing I’e really seen complaints about while reading reviews is the screen resolution. Honestly, I don’t think that’s much of a problem unless you’re used to an AMOLED display like HTC Desire. If you’ve got a Desire, why would you even consider buying a Wildfire? Makes no sense.
I guess the name says it all. Wildfire
Taste the word. It’s great, isn’t it?
Of course, I got the red one. Which after some consideration is pretty stupid since I’m going to use a silicon case which will cover up the colour of the phone anyway (though I managed to get a red silicone case, woho). But still. It’s red. Just like my iPod.
Oookay, enough about this. You’ll hear more of it (believe me, you will hear a LOT more of it) once I’ve got the phone.
It’s time for me to go to bed. Tomorrow I’m off to sign up for more classes. This will be my first step towards Glamorgan!
Did you know that there are people who collect rubber ducks?
It doesn’t sound that wierd, but when you consider the fact that a colleague of mine has got 291 rubber ducks, of which about 270 are unique… that does seem a bit odd.
Turns out that there are quite a few communities about rubber ducks, about where to get them and stuff like that. There are more different brands, colours, sizes and types than you can imagine. What about a giraffe duck? Or a frog duck? Or maybe a king duck? Or would you prefer a basketball rubber duck? They even have fruit ducks. They smell like fruit too.
Apparently Google are updating Street View, and amongst other countries they’re back in Sweden for more pictures. You should be able to see here where they currently are. I can see that they haven’t updated the webpage yet but they probably will do so soon.
News for this time is that they’ve got a Google Street View Trike (which is basically i tricycle with a huge camera) to take pictures in places that aren’t so accessible with cars.
Personall, I hope they’ll go to the University of Glamorgan, they haven’t been on the campus and I’m not sure if they’re allowed to be there, but one can always hope.
I’ll definately going to keep an eye open for the Google camera!
I really like it when people give me flowers and wine, lol!
Anyway… tomorrow it’s Walpurgis night, it’s a holiday mostly celebrated in northern Europe so you American folks probably have no idea what I’m talking about. Now you’ll learn! I googled Walpurgis night, and found out that it’s originally a pre-christian holiday, but it later became associated with saint Walpurga (which for some stupid reason is translated to Valborg in swedish). Walpurga was an English missionary born in Devon around year 710. She was canonized on May 1st year 870, which was 91 years after her death.
And for some reason, we light bonfires this day every year.
Most people don’t even know who saint Walpurga was, for them this holiday is just another good reason to drink ;)
With some luck I’ll remember to bring my camera tomorrow when celebrating and you might get some pictures.
Time to do some studying (it’s still fun!)!
Goodnight!
Yesterday I did something good. Every year in april, kids are selling Mayflowers, it’s a kind of charity work where you can buy a flower pin (http://www.majblomman.se/Om-Majblomman/Alla-majblommor/) and the money goes to poor children in Sweden. The point of it is that poor families can get financial aid for their children if they can’t afford new glasses, medication, summer activites, school trips or whatever it is. The idea is that all children should have
This is something I know is important, as far as I know The Mayflower Foundation are the only one who care for poor children in Sweden, since most organisations care for poverty in other parts of the world.
Apart from organisations that work agains animal cruelty, this is the only charity work I ever care about. And so should you!
I’m just going to write one post in Swedish, it’s about a contest, and you can’t participate if you’re not living in Sweden so it doesn’t matter :)
So, now I have a TV I actually watch it sometimes, and it’s hard to avoid all the commercials. I have to say I’ve kind of missed it, not that it’s that funny when you’re watching a good movie and they have to take a 20 min break for commercials, but when I’ve got nothing better to watch I don’t mind them.
Most of them are boring, but then there are some of them you remember. Absolut Vodka usually have kind of good commercials, like their latest. I like their slogan!
Doing things differently leads to something exceptional. In an Absolut world.
